== Život a kariéra ==
Frank Sinatra bol jediným dieťaťom [[Sicília|sicílskeho]] hasiča Anthonyho Martina Sinatru ([[1894]] – [[1969]]), ktorý sa do Spojených štátov prisťahoval v roku [[1895]] a Natalie Delly Gavarantovej ([[1896]] – [[1977]]), ktorá sa z [[Liguria|Ligurie]] do USA presťahovala v roku [[1897]]. Na začiatku [[druhá svetová vojna|druhej svetovej vojny]] mu bola kvôli pretrhnutému ušnému bubienku, spôsobenému pri pôrode, pridelená lekárska klasifikácia „4-F“, takže namiesto odvodu k letectvu mohol budovať svoju kariéru.
 
Pre kariéru speváka sa rozhodol pod vplyvom [[Bing Crosby|Binga Crosbyho]], ktorého poznal z rozhlasu. Začal spievať v malých kluboch a rozhlasových staniciach v New Jersey. V roku [[1940]] sa pridal k orchestru [[Tommy Dorsey|Tommyho Dorseye]], kde si ako spevák vydobyl slávu. Pre populárnu hudbu získal celú novú časť publika – násťročné dievčatá, tzv. ''bobby soxers'' – do tej doby medzi poslucháčov patrili skôr dospelí. Spev s Dorseyem Sinatrovi tiež priniesol jeho prvú filmovú rolu, napr. v roku [[1942]] v muzikáli ''[[Ship Ahoy]]'' (kde ešte nebol ani vymenovaný v titulkoch).
