English: Pacific Ocean (May 10, 2006) - The Computerized Tomography (CT) scan machine aboard the Military Sealift Command hospital ship USNS Mercy (T-AH 19) uses x-rays and computers to create cross-sections of bodily tissues. Mercy is underway on a five-month deployment, during which its crew will work with several non-governmental medical organizations to deliver humanitarian assistance to people in South and Southeast Asia, and the Pacific Islands. Mercy is a uniquely capable ship that offers numerous services in various fields including general surgery, eye surgery, dentistry, optometry and public health training.
