• I am preparing a small database first about towns in Slovakia. There should be informations about images too:

Hi, i do not have the maps available as a list, i just generate them from a larger map if i need a new map for the german wikipedia. If you need more maps, i can generate them but i have not that much time to do this. They will all be available at commons.wikipedia.org, so every wiki can use it. --Murli 20:03, 25 Jan 2005 (UTC)

• Thanks Murli for the answer! I will not write in German here that other visitors can follow.
• As you may have seen I placed the maps (already listed at the great list commons:Maps of Slovakia) also in commons:Category:Cities and villages in Slovakia.
• I would be happy, if the naming would be of the same syntax: like commons:Image:Map slovakia kezmarok.png so [[Image:Map slovakia XXXX.png]] where XXXX is the UTF-8 transkription normaly used at en:. This would make life easier for me. But anyway at some point in time there may be different maps:
  • [[Image:Map slovakia XXXX (kraj).png]]
  • [[Image:Map slovakia XXXX (ocres).png]]
  • [[Image:Map slovakia XXXX (zupa).png]]
  • maybe also smaler maps [[Image:Map slovakia kraj XXXX YYYY.png]]

tools to generate lots of maps

• I have been in Berlin at the 21C3, see meta:21C3, de:Wikipedia:Portal 21C3 etc. pl:User:Taw / meta:User:Taw was explaining about generating arbitrary maps using satelite datas and / or using lists with GPS coordinates from the PD. See meta:Maps and meta:Maps 2 for some results / examples. He e-mailed the GPS coordinates for RO to me.
• As you can see (for example at romanian places from Po - Pu) I have sarted to make some lists. We need there to decide about a disambiguation strategy. I would like to follow that one from en: using [[place, district]] or [[place, comunity, vilage]] with very few exceptions. After we have decided about this we can start to create articles and we need some maps.
• Questions:
  • Do you know other Wikipedians specialised in making lots of (small) maps? Gangleri | Di | D 15:38, 26 Jan 2005 (UTC)
  • Do you know Wikipedians who have some expertise about supplementery databases, and can host (temporary or permanent) RO geographical data to be used by all Wikipedias?
