William Morris

William Morris (* 24. marec 1834, Walthamstow, Spojené kráľovstvo - † 3. október 1896, Londýn) bol anglický básnik, spisovateľ, textilný výtvarník, maliar, architekt, politik a sociálny reformátor.

Bol úzko spätý s Bratstvom preraffaelistov a hnutím Arts and Crafts. Posledné roky života bol členom sociálnodemokratickej federácie, neskôr predsedal socialistickej lige. Zaslúžil sa aj o zdokonalenie polygrafie.

Dielo

Parafrázoval staroanglické a germánske básne, skladal vlastné epické básne na námety antických bájí a stredovekej ľudovej tradície. Je autorom rozsiahlej epickej skladby The Earthly Paradise (Zemský raj, 1868–70).
